Migration Guide
Your files, settings, and data are automatically migrated to Cosmos. Here's everything you need to know.
Automatic Data Migration
Update 2.10 automatically migrates all your app data to the new Cosmos folders in Application Support. This includes:
- ✓All indexed files and metadata
- ✓Your search history and preferences
- ✓Custom collections and tags
- ✓All settings and configurations
Note: This migration happens automatically when you update. No action needed on your part!
Update Applications Folder (Optional)
The only thing we can't update remotely is the app name in your Applications folder. If you want the app to show up as "Cosmos" instead of "Desktop Docs":
Everything Just Works
Once the migration is complete, Cosmos will have all your data and work exactly like Desktop Docs, but with:
- ✨Improved AI search capabilities
- ✨Better performance and stability
- ✨Enhanced team collaboration features
- ✨More intuitive user interface
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I lose any of my data?
No! All your indexed files, search history, collections, and settings are automatically migrated to Cosmos. Nothing is lost in the process.
Do I need to re-index my files?
No, your file index is preserved during migration. Cosmos will immediately have access to all your previously indexed content.
What if I keep both apps installed?
Both apps will work independently, but they'll share the same data after migration. For the best experience, we recommend using only Cosmos going forward.
Can I roll back to Desktop Docs?
Yes, if needed. Your original Desktop Docs data remains intact, so you can continue using the older version if necessary.
